Re: Daimler 15 steering "wobble"
Thank you all for some useful and interesting observations - I hadn't appreciated how "common" the issue has become. Lots of tests to carry out on my steering setup, tyres, tracking etc. I'm intrigued that tyre pressures have had a role to play in some cases.

Daimler 15 steering "wobble"
1936 Daimler 15 Sports Saloon: ever since I've owned the car, if one of the front wheels runs into a small sharp dip in the road (such as a pot hole) or runs over something like a piece of wood, the steering develops a violent wobble. The frequency at the steering wheel is about 2 times per second. ...

Re: Daimler 15 thermal enrichment unit
Thank you for the comments.
I cleaned the two mating surfaces and made up a thin gasket to insert between them, the leak has finally stopped.

Re: V8-250 front spring removal
My local garage made up a tool that they used to remove the front springs so that they could replace the suspension arm bushes. The tool does the equivalent of the Churchill tool. I understand that the Jaguar owners club have a Churchill tool that they hire out to members - apparently there is a lon...

Checking toe-in V8 250
I want my local garage to check the tracking on my V8 250. The manual states that the toe in should be between parallel and 1/16 inch (1.57mm). The garage tracking machine measures toe-in in terms of degrees and seconds. Do any of you happen to know how 1/16 inch toe-in would be expressed in degrees...

Daimler 15 thermal enrichment unit
A long time ago I disconnected the thermal enrichment unit from the inlet manifold and installed a manual choke instead, giving me complete control over starting. The engine is the 2166cc unit and I believe it was the first engine of the 15 series to have a thermal enrichment device. Ever since I've...

Daimler 15 cooling conundrum
Recently I've repaired and replaced the head on my 1936 15 Sports Saloon. I discovered something weird as I reassembled the cooling system: a previous owner had deliberately blocked the thermostat bypass pipe, preventing coolant flow along the pipe. Can anyone shed any light as to why anyone might d...

Re: V8 250 Front Brake Calliper Bridge Pipes
A search for part 7783 (RH Front and LH rear) shows both shapes of brake pipe, with an annotation against the "square S" shape (as fitted to my car) as being no longer available, replaced by the shorter pipe. I doubt that SNG Barratt woul knowingly offer something that is not completely co...

V8 250 Front Brake Calliper Bridge Pipes
I need replacement calliper bridge pipes. The LHS bridge pipe on offer form SNG Barratt is identical to that fitted on my car. For the RHS pipe, SNG Barratt are offering a replacement pipe that differs in shape from the original, the original being the longer "squared S shape" of the 2 pip...
