Re: Rival for SP250 design approval

My first thought on the top pictures was that it could take the prize for the ugliest car ever made! Nick Well, the Tornado was made in 1958 and the Dart got famous for being one of the ugliest cars in USA in 1959: Wikipedia "The SP250 was launched as the Daimler Dart in April 1959 at the New York ...

Re: Tyre size options on 250

The price is absolutely ridiculous for the premium 185/80/15 tyres with a low load index. Just by putting the work Sport or Classic in the title seems to give the OK to charge the earth. SP250 owners are getting fleeced just fill out the wheel arches! I'm thinking of putting some commercial cargo v...

I couldnt believe the amount of sludge caught in the sump trap!
I'd rather not look at mine. Are flushing oils any good at getting rid of sludge there?

Can someone tell me why I actually quite like it?! Would some kind of therapy help? :D
You're asking for trouble with that comment :D ...

I wouldn't mind driving it around town, though.

Rival for SP250 design approval

Perhaps this 1958 Plymouth Tornado is why the SP250 never found favour in USA :D They didn't want a subdued British design, they wanted something outrageous although I don't think this ever went into production. arend-kistemaker20190316unlovedk54225114_1251844601660085_6607027167295438848_n.jpg Phot...

Re: Tyre size options on 250

I discovered that Vredestein make two diameters for 185/15 tyres, so if you want tyres that don't look too small in the wheel arch, choose the larger diameter 185 HR15 91H. I chose them and I'm satisfied. They were a lot cheaper than Michelin XAS. Be careful that large diameter tyres don't touch the...

I've given it a squirt of WD40, but it still won't turn over...
To turn it over you just get your hands under it and heave. :D

Re: SP250 Owners Handbook

I wonder what the differences were? Four editions - it's only an owner's handbook so there's not a lot of technical detail. Mine shows a photo of a car with the A spec "whiskers" beside the grille, perhaps the later editions have a different photo. What else might change, perhaps recommendations for...

Re: SP250 Owners Handbook

There are different editions; mine says First Edition 1959 (for A spec.). Presumably there was another for B spec. cars.
