Re: Video of the DLOC rally 2016 at St Ives

I've emailed Mark Hooghiemstra to ask if he can post it directly to the forum. It is a good video. He may have videos of other annual rallies!

Re: intermittent no start.

I think the same thing happened to my Dart - the ignition switch produced a click but no start. The solenoid in the engine worked perfectly manually. I was told that the solenoid needs a good push down and the ignition switch electro-mechanically didn't push it down enough, whereas my finger did. A ...

Re: Engine woes. ! !

Wrap the car up warm and forget about it when sunbathing in Oz! Return rejuvenated and get it all sorted by the summer. Alternatively give the car a good beating with some branches torn off the nearest bush like John Cleese did in Fawlty Towers and see if it behaves in future. :o How many times have...

Re: Buying (or not) a Daimler Conquest Century

If you go to inspect the car, the owner will probably give you some indication of whether anyone else is interested in it. If not, offer half and go away. If he calls back, you know he wants to negotiate because no one else wants to buy it. There is some basic information in the DLOC data sheets htt...

Re: Colours and Fuel

Phil Glennerster who restored my car's engine said that he had set it up for 95 octane and I have no complaints, it's very responsive and hasn't pinked. I suppose it's all down to the tuning.

Re: Colours and Fuel

That's a good link by Vortex. There was (is) a Daimler maroon, my car was repainted from red to maroon before 1968. I was looking in the old archive forum and found this link http://archive.dloc.co.uk/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=12928&SearchTerms=colours,sp250 with posts by Laurence Jones who has all t...

Re: Hooper Daimlers

The car in bad condition in the garage that Barrie posted looks just like the Silverflash he posted a photo of earlier. Could it be the same one or were several silverflashes made? Christopher Storey said ...the remark/instruction from my wife " I've never seen anything so vulgar in my life and you'...
