Peter Ruifrok (username Peter Ruifrok ) is the DLOC registrar for DE cars.

Re: 4.5 Specs (and parts?)

Welcome from across the pond :D For parts, you have seen this topic: http://forum.dloc.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=159 as some SP250 suppliers like Barry Thorne or David Manners might be able to help. The Club registrar for Majestic Majors DQ450 is Marcus Jones ( username Marcus ) so email him as he ...

Engine number as read by the seller:
7K1190

"K" appears to be a bit strange? Maybe "4" or a Limousine engine?

Quite possible. My car now has a saloon block with a number that starts 1A... Presumably from a late model V8 saloon.

Re: Engine Number

What I stated above is for the chassis number (but on the chassis). I was getting confused.
The manual says "The engine unit number is stamped on the front R.H. bank of cylinder bores adjacent to the R.H. cylinder head fitting face".

Re: Engine Number

It's very faint; it's not on a nameplate, it's engraved.

Stand at the front, lean over the radiator and look down to your left at the top of the cast iron block. You may have to use some WD40 and a cloth to clean the area to see the faint numbers.

When I found my old car after forty years it had a stick of bamboo for that purpose. Nothing to go wrong. :D

Re: 2019 DLOC International Rally, Peebles, Scotland Booking Open

Photo received from Stephen Leckie of Tony Fardoe. Whether he is smiling bravely despite great pain or is returning from hospital I'm not sure. Sarcastic comments may follow, I suppose! tonyfardoeinambulanceIMG_2354-1024x768.jpg I was also sent a photo of the ambulance carrying Lisa, but she's not v...

Re: 2019 DLOC International Rally, Peebles, Scotland Booking Open

Oh dear, Oh dear, what can I say! At least they now have some time to write articles for the DM about the other experiences at the rally :D Get well soon. Did the hospital build a shock absorber into his leg? (Thank God the car is OK. SP250s are virtually indestructible.) Any chance of some photos f...

Re: Typical SP250 engine operating temperature / thermostat clarity...

I think you are worrying too much. as long as the needles are all nearly vertical, as Ian says, then just relax. When my car was returned after Phil Glennerster had restored the engine, the temperature gauge was usually a bit lower than 185 degrees, but the gauges are hardly ever precise. As long as...
