Re: Wiper motor cleaning and overhaul

Hi, just change the main drive wheel as the XJ series wheel is 105 degrees and the mk2 jag one is I think 95 ?, can't remember as so long ago now, I had to mess with the xj park inards and just use the main wires to wire into the wiper switch and then put in a ceramic 15v adjustable switch to stop t...

Re: Wiper motor cleaning and overhaul

Hi Rob, my wiper motors were underpowered as with your issue with the grease that had gone hard, I found that the series 1 XJ motor much better and no need to change the wiper linkage, had to make up a bracket and swap over the drive wheel from the XJ to the V8 and have a fiddle with the wiring but ...

Re: V8 saloon headlining replacement

Hi, that is just rank! my cars are not concourse, but loads of money has been spent on it, just another £200 on a decent headlining and the rest of the car looks good on the pics, it's a let down. reminds of a v8250 I went see at an auction, the car turned up 5 mins before the lot time and it was a ...

Re: V8 saloon headlining replacement

Hi, as with all things on these cars interior is plan ahead and let it all happen in time, rushing is the worse thing to do, esp for us amateurs eh? good luck with the interior and remember folks always judge the quality of the interior work for the overall quality of the whole car? all the best Tony

Re: V8 saloon headlining replacement

Hi, these images were taken on a 35mm, not a digital cam so only so much definition is on the image (it was 2005) , but try these, the sausage trims are fitted with these from woollies at least mine were? https://www.woolies-trim.co.uk/product/1279/spring-clip. try these images again, if you look at...

Re: V8 saloon headlining replacement

Hi, you mean the sausage looking trim pieces? you push these trims onto the lower metal backs trim near the furflex around the door area. using trim clips and push on to fix. trying to find the rest of my pics from the resto, but have just found these, it is tricky to stop getting creases around the...

Re: V8 saloon headlining replacement

Hi, look at my earlier post and it deals with the Daimler V8 version as I did this job 15 years ago. mine is still up ok after that time so I must have done it sort of right. it's not the nicest job in the world but satisfying after it's done. The Daimler version early or late is the same as far as ...

Re: V8 saloon headlining replacement

Hi. I did mine about 15 years ago, using a foam sheet supplied by woollies, either high density foam white colour or heavier solid foam sheet but that is heavier, or something like millboard but that is quite heavy as well, I went with the higher density foam version, I used vinyl roof type glue to ...

Re: Front ash frame rotten

Hi, looks like I will need to do this on my 11, I'm still on the ass-end at the moment, although looking at the bottom of the ash front wing to windscreen length is maybe only rotten at the very bottom, and if some is soft than maybe I will take Alan's advice and use some wood hardener and I have st...
