Re: number punch set

You can get reverse image number and letter punches but I've not seen them as big as 1/2".

Re: Empress 2 for Sale

Syd, 2651cc is the engine size of a Vauxhall 6 from later PA series and earlier PB series Vauxhall Velox / Crestas (earlier PA's had a 2262cc engine carried forward from the E Series cars and later PB's had a 3294cc engine that was carried forward to the PC series cars). I don't see listed in my A-Z...

Re: V8-250: Oil - 20W/60

The handbook recommended 10W-30 because the only multigrades available at the time were 10W-30 or 20W-30. Shell Multigrade, Castrol, Mobil Special, Havoline Special, Duckhams Q5500 and Esso Extra were all 10W-30. Esso Multigrade was 20W-30. I'm not sure what BP Visco-static was but I expect it was s...

Re: V8-250: Oil - 20W/60

I'm sorry my friend, you have some of this wrong. The first number (the W number) is not a viscosity measure although the result will relate to the viscosity of the oil. At the temperatures the test for this rating is performed at, all oils are far too thick to actually measure the viscosity so a di...

Re: Going on a long trip

Excellent news. Let me repost your words from a couple of weeks ago Many thanks As you all say - have confidence - I've driven the car on longish trip and have no problems since I reconditioned the car. It's always the unexpected - I drove my Morris to Ireland after having down every flight check po...

Re: V8-250: Oil - 20W/60

An xxW-60 oil might be beneficial to use in an engine with worn crankshaft bearings where an xxW-40 or xxW-50 oil would not sustain a reasonable pressure when hot. Otherwise in a normal engine it would lead to increased friction and increased heat in the bearings.

Re: Tyre Pressure

I owe Michael an apology for probably scaring him half to death! I think Rolf may be correct. To be sure what they are we'd need to see the actual tyre markings. There should be other codes on the sidewall for load limits and speed ratings. I have a copy of Continental Tyres Technical databook for 2...
