Re: Calling owners of 1934/35 models.....

Thanks Mike. Happy New Year to you too. Is yours a 'Mulliners of Birmingham' body or 'Arthur Mulliner' of Northampton? The former handled all Daimler's 'in house' coachwork for standard models during those years, the latter was a wholly independent company that made bodies for other high end marques...

Calling owners of 1934/35 models.....

Further to my recent post concerning door cards for my 1934 LQ2/20 I wonder if any owners of ANY Daimler made C1934/35 which has the 'in house' MULLINERS OF BIRMINGHAM coachwork still bearing the original door cards/panels could show me a photo of their front door interiors please? I have the 1934 c...

Thanks Mark, essentially similar to what mine should look like according to the 1934/35 catalogue. Did you have yours re covered?

Re: Pre war door cards.

Thanks Ron, what thickness ply was used? I have a photo of the interior of a model 207 LQ2 from the original Daimler 1934/35 catalogue which shows padded rolls forming the periphery of the door card. These were omitted by the monkey who did the last re upholster job so apart from this one photo I ha...

Pre war door cards.

Hi all. My '34 LQ2/20 had its interior re upholstered (not particularly well!) by a previous owner. Although the rear compartment will do for a while longer the front needs some attention. The most urgent issues are the two door panels below the walnut veneered trims. Not only was a very poor qualit...

Re: Engine identity??

Hi Mike, I think that the engine fitted to the LQ3/24 is the same one that Henry and Mark mention which went into it's successor, the EL24 so possibly.

Re: Engine identity??

Yes, the LQ had its brass plate on the offside and the aluminium 'flip up' oil filler so this is without doubt a later head but from what.....?!

Re: Engine identity??

Ah, yes.....of course! In that case I haven't got a clue. I have all the parts books for the LQ2 & 3......TC's 81, 89 & 91 and they all show the same head/part number so it wasn't changed during the LQ's short production life. That said it's almost certainly a Daimler head.

Re: Engine identity??

Hi Ranald. That's not a LQ head......the rocker cover is different in that on the LQ it covers all the head bolts & studs and has a different filler cap and the brass plate on the opposite side. I think he's got an LQ block with a different head......perhaps from an E20?
