Re: La10

I have a LA10 Coupe and some parts. I live just off Junction 12 on the M1 which might be a bit far for you.

Re: LA10 Wheel Cylinder Rebuild kit identification

Hi. Powertrack might have new ones. They certainly have ones for Morris 8. May be the same body but smaller bore. MG owners have new ones in bronze but about £250 each I think Classiccar-brakes (same as Contract Auto Engineering Ltd) will service them. Fit a stainless sleeve, new seals and bleed val...

Re: Lanchester LA10/11/12/14 and Daimler 15 Brake Springs fitting

LA10. The top photo is as my front brakes. Two springs and a plate bolted to the base. The rear brakes have a single component. In order, hook, spring, straight section, hook and the other hook. My rear near side brake keeps sticking on and I have brought it down to a weak spring. Like the spring in...

Re: Starting handle

My starting handle was nicked. However, I bought a new one for a Landrover on fleabay silly cheap. It was very long so I had to cut it to length and then put a new pin in. If you want dimensions let me know.

Re: Ignition TDC Forteen/Leda

I have been looking at ignition timing for my 1933 LA10 which suggests about 60 deg BTDC. 60 is not a typo! I have looked at other Lanchesters and I am surprised at the apparent lack of continuity. Roadrider 14 8 deg, 10 and 11 1936 - 39 10 deg, 'later' 10 'near' TDC, 15/18 6" on the flywheel- ...

Re: Buying a La 10

Thank you bop for drawing the Newnes books to my attention. I wish that I'd had them 60 years ago when I had my first Daimler. I have now bought a set, bought because of some conundrums in the LA10 owners manuals.

Re: Driven Nuts !

Hello Rob
You're right they are not a "usual" size. My LA10 has 3/4" and they are readily available. I have found a source for you and it might be worth digging around.

Re: Driven Nuts !

I assume that it has a split pin to lock the nuts. I had a nut on a spare axle which would not budge. Usual soaking for days, heat etc. In the end I drilled parallel to the thread and then split it. Replacement castellated nuts are readily available/

Re: Brake Drums

Thanks Dyd. Too obvious. We are only looking for a few thou'. I pushed the drum on half way till tight and pumped the handbrake hard. Pushed on a little further, pumped again and plop. It was on. A little tight but that doesn't worry me at the moment.
