Many thanks for your replies - I shall look at the make up on the catches in more detail.
I agree - those catches offered on line are rubbish.

Rear window catches
I need to replace the LH rear quarter light catch on my V8-250. The old catch fell apart which I understand is a common occurrence. I have tried two new separate replacements from different suppliers and each have proved faulty. The locking lever will not cam over fully leaving the quarter light par...

Steering column noise
My 1968 V8 250 is fitted with power steering and performs well,as it should. However every 3-500 miles a’rubbing’ noise comes up from the steering column especially when turning on the lock. The plastic type top bush, from where the noise appears to emanate, has now been replaced three times but eac...

Re: Very High Amps
Thanks all for your replies. I have now changed my AC 11 alternator for an equivalent from Wosp which incorporates the voltage control unit and so dispenses with the troublesome 4TR. Slight modifications to the alternator adjustment bracketery was necessary and rewiring of the ignition warning light...

Re: Very High Amps
Thank you Graham for your reply. Have carried out battery checks and all seem OK but still high charging rate persists.
Can the 4TR UNITS be the cause? I have tried several new items with no improvement.
The flat battery may be caused by Kenlowe as It happens after long run. Will disconnect.
Akiri.

Very High Amps
My 1968 V8-250 is fitted as standard with an AC 11 alternator with 4TR voltage controller and a dashboard ammeter. On start up the ammeter shows near maximum charge for more than 10/15 minutes. Then the gauge slowly drops to half max and remains there. During long journeys the battery runs flat and mu...

Re: Intermittent horn
Thank you John and Nick for your prompt replies.
I think you are right Nick, John's advice covers the SP 250.
Maybe the steering column has to come out.
Regards
Alan

Intermittent horn
Recently I have experienced the horn on my 1968 V8 - 250 sometimes sounds for a short blast when turning the steering wheel. Very annoying and embarrassing in heavy traffic! I am told it is necessary to remove the steering column to fix this. Is there an easier way?
