Re: V8 250 Rear brake issue.

Hi all , I have used Green Stuff pads for years with very good results. The problem with the original design pad is that the thin metal backplane will, after a few years use, come away from the pad as they are withdrawn. The thicker two prong design works so much better. The saloon does not have a c...

Re: New Owner - 1968 Daimler 250 Saloon - Suffolk

Hi all, the reason many people shy away from fitting door seals is the for many years the only seals available were too hard, so very difficult to get a good seal all round the door. The more recent seals are softer. The second reason is that to do the job properly the doors have to be removed as ac...

Re: V8 250 Rear brake issue.

I would suggest that as both rear brakes are hot, the cause must be common to both. Suggest the cause could be a collapsed rear hose. It acts as a one way valve. S Jack up the rear so both wheels are off fround. Check car is stable, don't rely on just jack. Check that both wheels are not binding. Ap...

Re: Steering box questions

Hi Bobtills, I suggest that you first check that it's actually the box that has play, and not the upper or lower universal joints. Also check the tightness (via pinch bolts) of both universal joints into their respective shafts. If all OK, then you could try adjusting the box itself. This can be don...

Re: V8 saloon bonnet catch

The other way is to point a touch through the front grill at the top, slightly to the left as viewed from the front. You will see the catch operating lever pointing at you, and probably the end of the cable. Use large thin screwdriver or similar to push the lever to the left. The bonnet should pop o...

Re: V8-250 Saloon: What's this part ??

Hi Richard, they are the exhaust manifold to exhaust pipe dealing rings. P/N C18405/1 item 41-3 page 198 of Parts Catalogue.
You will have to remove the old ones from the end of the pipe. They crush as the clamp is tightened up so can be difficult to remove.

For info a viscous coupling off a early XJ-S fits and works well. One has been on my car for years.
