No it is not an option, it is used to keep the whole rear axle assembly aligned to the body, and is adjustable to get the axle in dead centre. It is not an expensive item , they are easily available , but is essential. Paul

Hi Ron, If you look on Youtube and search for your subject there is information on there. Last time I fit one I bent an old screwdriver to the required shape to push infront of the trim which spreads the rubber to allow you feed the trim in behind it.
