As it's not in PasSPort either, I wonder if it's on an age related plate having just had it's cherished number transferred off?
I don't know if it's MOT history would show up then?

Tim, is your overdrive working OK? Clutch slip/judder in reverse can be an indication of a serious problem with the overdrive not disengaging properly. At it's extreme it can shatter the unidirectional clutch in the overdrive unit. Don't mean to worry you, but it is a possibility......... Hopefully ...

Hi Graham,
don't know about Sonus's car, but mine has one of the main earth points on the coil mounting bolts so I don't think it's that I'm afraid.

Hi Sonus, yes, like you I have huge RF pickup from my SP - I can't use an inductive pickup timing light, as just dangling the pickup lead anywhere near the engine picks up all the plugs at once! Ditto the digital multimeter. Wierdly, my Gilbern - also GRP body, steel chassis - doesn't show this prob...

Hi Chris, it sounds like you may have a valve on that cylinder not closing properly. Try re-checking your valve clearances and see if that's your problem before getting any deeper! Pistons have to come out through the top, I'm afraid, but let's hope it's just a sticky valve or wrong valve clearance....

Tried a couple of them, but no improvement until I changed the rings, I'm afraid :cry: Russ Carpenter pointed out that the way the engine turns, all the sump oil gets chucked up the RH bank cylinders, so the oil control rings need to be in really good fettle on that bank. I tried to convince myself ...
