Re: Steering

Hi Steve, assuming the R&P conversion is one of the "known" ones, self-centering shouldn't be a problem, and the car should feel stable on the steering at all speeds. In fact, some of us prefer lower front tyre pressures because otherwise the steering can feel too light ( I run 26/28 front/rear on 1...

Re: Dart rear caliper pistons ??

Now 9 years in on silicon fluid with a servo and no probs so far . Like Smithgor I fillled with Dot5 after a complete rebuild of the hydraulics - I've no experience of adding it to a system that's been run on Dot4 or Do5.1 then drained. My personal experience is that silicon is prone to microbubbles...

Re: 'B' spec. SP250 at auction

As it's not in PasSPort either, I wonder if it's on an age related plate having just had it's cherished number transferred off?
I don't know if it's MOT history would show up then?

Re: SP 250 clutch judder when reversing.

Tim, is your overdrive working OK? Clutch slip/judder in reverse can be an indication of a serious problem with the overdrive not disengaging properly. At it's extreme it can shatter the unidirectional clutch in the overdrive unit. Don't mean to worry you, but it is a possibility......... Hopefully ...

Re: Ignition noise

Hi Graham,
don't know about Sonus's car, but mine has one of the main earth points on the coil mounting bolts so I don't think it's that I'm afraid.
thanks for the thought, though!

regards, John

Re: Ignition noise

Hi Sonus, yes, like you I have huge RF pickup from my SP - I can't use an inductive pickup timing light, as just dangling the pickup lead anywhere near the engine picks up all the plugs at once! Ditto the digital multimeter. Wierdly, my Gilbern - also GRP body, steel chassis - doesn't show this prob...

Re: Low compression on left no.4

Hi Chris, it sounds like you may have a valve on that cylinder not closing properly. Try re-checking your valve clearances and see if that's your problem before getting any deeper! Pistons have to come out through the top, I'm afraid, but let's hope it's just a sticky valve or wrong valve clearance....
