Re: V8 250 Brakes binding.
Hi David You will most likely find that this is caused by the aftermarket servo. I fitted an “upgrade” aftermarket servo years ago and had this problem after a while. I eventually replaced it with another one, which eventually had the same symptoms. I then had the original servo reconditioned by Pas...

Re: Electronic Ignition
I have a Pertronix ignition on my car, and if my memory serves me correctly there are two wires from the ignition module; one goes to the live ignition feed and the other to the - side of the coil. The + side of the coil should then go to earth. (This is for a positive earth car) Hope that helps.

I agree with Ian, I had the same problem with a flickering ignition light.
A new set of brushes and clean up the armature, a cheap easy fix so check that first.

Re: Cooling hoses
I changed all the cooling and heater hoses on my car with silicone ones back in 2012. Not cheap but well worth it, and 9 years later they are still as good as new, no deterioration at all. I got mine from Classic Silicone Hoses Ltd who supply a kit with all the hoses needed for V8 saloon and SP250. ...

Re: wire wheel balancing
You do need specific cones for mounting these wire wheels to be balanced, I ended up buying a set when I had new tyres fitted a couple of years ago.
Probably best to phone around to see if any tyre fitters have these.

Hi Bob
When any door is opened all the lamps should light, also when switched from the dash. All the switches go to earth to complete the circuit.

Re: V8 250 Braking Problem
John It does sound like the servo is the problem, as you’ve eliminated the other possibilities. It is not such a big job to remove the servo, all you need to do is undo the two hydraulic pipes and the vacuum pipe and the whole assembly comes out under the wheel arch (once you’ve removed the wheel yo...

Re: V8 250 Braking Problem
The V8 250 doesn’t have an adjustable actuating rod, it is fixed so that won’t be an issue. I believe Colin means the hydraulic hoses to the front callipers, as they can collapse internally allowing pressurised fluid through but not releasing it. After removing and refitting the vacuum tank did the ...

Re: V8 water pump pulley
Thanks for the tips.
In the end I went to a local engineering firm and they kindly let me use their hydraulic press. It was so easy with the right equipment, only took five minutes.
Just got to put it back on the car now.
Cheers

V8 water pump pulley
Hi all I am in the process of changing the water pump on my car after a recent failure. Any tips or advice on removing and replacing the pulley on the pump would be much appreciated as I've not had to do that before as the last time I changed the pump it came complete with the pulley. The pump is of...
