Re: Lopsided saloon with new rear springs
Thank you for all your inputs. My suspicion about the different appearance of the centre support area proved correct. This is the garage’s story.... Agreed was a good 1.5” higher at n/s rear. Said reason was the an old repair to the chassis around the o/ s centre spring support (think done 30 years ...

Re: Lopsided saloon with new rear springs
I wonder Richard - I had new adjustable gas shocks a couple of years ago (following a failure of a relatively new one). I can’t remember the make but the instructions seemed impenetrable!
I’ll check it out tomorrow.

Re: Lopsided saloon with new rear springs
Thanks Richard and Lionel. Thankfully, Lionel, there is no centre bolt through the centre retaining plate. I slackened off the spring eye bolts bounced the back a bit and tightened to no effect. I can lift the offside to about a matching height and it stays there even when bounced which is curious. ...

Re: Lopsided saloon with new rear springs
Thanks Clive but the front springs are quite new. I fitted those myself a couple of years ago.
It was level before the rear springs were replaced this week!

Lopsided saloon with new rear springs
D09EB1A9-4429-40C7-96DC-8A542CFEB050.jpeg Hi Just had rear springs and rubbers replaced. Collected the car the other evening and put it in garage. Noticed today that on level ground the nearside sits more than an inch higher at the rear than the offside. As far as I know nothing went wrong with the...

Re: Auto Box Kickdown V8 250
Turned out to be the throttle pedal fouling the trolttle lever toward the end of its travel and hence preventing the downshift. The pedal had shifted to the left and was only just sitting on the lever at idle but when depressed moved off the lever.

Re: Probably done to death but radio interference!
Thanks you!
Testing spark plug caps seems that they aren’t suppressed. Have ordered 8 supressed one’s. Perhaps that will do the trick?

Probably done to death but radio interference!
Hi After 33 years of resisting it :D I converted my ‘64 V8 saloon to negative earth a few weeks back and installed a dynalite. All works well. The annoying radio interference I hoped would go (I ran it on a polarity converter) is still there although it works better than it did. New aerial and radio...

Re: Captive nut spinning V8 saloon update!
Hi Guys
So problem solved: thanks Chris, your method was employed and it worked a treat. The other side (n/s as it happens) was ok. The threads cleaned, new bolts and all ok.
Thanks again everyone.
