Re: Petrol Smell

Assuming we're talking about an SP I'm tempted to say this is a characteristic of the car rather than a problem - a significant percentage of owners have encountered the same condition. The SU pump has a vent pipe that is not connected to anything, and fumes are vented to the boot area. Run a pipe f...

Re: Concrete

Cat litter works well on fresh spills. Might be a challenge on an ingrained stain though.

I had the double pump on my Dart until I carefully set up the brake calipers to be absolutely parallel using shims between the hub and caliper.
Worked perfectly after that.
Just out of interest, what were they parallel to?

Re: Heater/Carb water pipes

The main problem with the original canvas reinforced rubber tee and elbow connectors was their limited life after installation. Those currently available from BT are silicone rubber. They're just as fiddly to fit and remove but have a much longer life.

Re: Heater/Carb water pipes

At one time I believe there was a source of stainless water pipes that did away with the rubber elbows and tees but I'm pretty sure they're no longer available. I got a set from Barry Thorne - together with the associated rubber connectors - and they are good quality and fit very well. Hopefully you...

Re: Recovery services - any good for old cars?

.......very few have any Whitworth spanners and I have had to instruct them on how stuff works on occasion......... Maybe the AA is a better bet? Their current TV ad seems to suggest they carry spanners for octagonal nuts - maybe they're useful on old MG's..... :?: ;) Capture.JPG https://www.youtub...

Re: Joke !

There have been far, far too many jokes rude to wives or women; it's about time some women members fought back. :o Not sure this is really a joke, but it did actually happen to me and perhaps reflects rather more positively on the female party involved than on myself. I was in a public meeting one ...

Re: SP250 'B' spec Ash Tray Wanted

...and here it is.

If you acquire an ashtray that needs replating it's worth noting the variety of finishes on the parts. While the rim is chrome plated the lid itself is actually nickel plated and the finger tongue is stainless steel!

Re: Speed limiters for all new cars

There are firms who will remap your car to remove this restriction. Any speed restriction to ensure compliance with local limits will almost certainly be electronic in nature and inevitably open to removal. Assuming most cars don't have the limiter deleted, it will still help on motorways where all...
