Not familiar with this model, but is there a breather on top of the axle casing?
If so, and if it is not working, then pressure will build up inside the axle casing and blow oil past the weakest point, often the hub seal.

What, in pic 211?kent sutton wrote: ↑Mon Apr 01, 2024 7:18 am Just another observation; both front spring pans would appear to have rust holes with mounting parts for the shocks missing.
Surprising if the shocks are not connected, it would be like driving a pogo stick.

Re: non starting la10
Lucky you had the handbrake on, otherwise it could have been one of those car-goes-through-back-of-garage moments!
The piston and dashpot can be cleaned with Solvol Autosol, which is quite abrasive and will remove the corrosion.

Re: Conquest light switch wiring
Is it something like this ? You can buzz it out with your DVM.... as you cycle the switch and the ignition key, you will find that one terminal connects to all the others. Probably the one at bottom left. That terminal is the live feed. Then there will be Sides, Heads, perhaps a Park position where ...

Re: Conquest Drophead SU H6 Striker Pin
On the base of both carburettor pistons is a brass 'striking pin' which is sprung and stops the piston completely closing the throttle aperture. It also cushions the piston as it drops. Mine look to be leaving quite a large gap with the piston down and I would be grateful if anyone can advise on th...

Re: 1939 DE27 for sale
It says £20,000 invested, but I am struggling to see where. The engine bay is a mess, wiring all over the place, and it appears to be missing a carburettor. I wonder what the interior cost. Even if it's vinyl, that was a quality job. Just the carpet which needs fasteners. And the woodwork has been ...

Re: 1939 DE27 for sale
Strange that the auctioneer is talking down the condition of the body & interior, as both look excellent... from a distance of course. OK, the body style with zero luggage space is not at all practical, but if it's not worth £15k that says something rather sad about the market's appreciation of ...

Re: Crankshaft damper
How do you remove the crankshaft pulley? I’ve read the workshop manual but can’t seem to get the nut off. Is there a trick such as how to remove the locking washer or if it is reverse threads? I think it's 1½" AF. As said, normal rh thread. Knock back the lock washer with a mallet and an old s...

Re: Engine vibration
I have an engine vibration that I’m now thinking is not normal. The vibration starts at around 3000 rpm (I’ll need to verify) and happens when standing still in neutral or while driving so I believe it is in the engine and not the drive train or suspension. What a pain after all your efforts. How i...
