V8-250 Saloon: Front Seats - Manual & Automatic

Hello, Can anyone clarify please, IF the front seats for a V8-250 saloon were different for manual and auto transmission cars ?? From photos I have seen, I get the impression that the front corner edges (adjacent with each other) on a manual have a more pronounced curve whereas on the auto transmiss...

Hello Syd,

Many thanks for the reply, that has confirmed my suspicions as to the obvious answer.

All the best.

V8-250 Saloon: Key Numbers

Hello, When I got my Daimler it came with only one set of keys, which is not unusual when classic cars are purchased. I know the key number for the ignition switch, as it is clearly marked on the barrel face for all to see !!! Thankfully there are no such helpful visible hints, on the driver door lo...

WANTED: DRIVING MEMBER BACK ISSUES - 2018 + 2017

Hello, I looking to complete my reference storage of past Driving Member magazines. Of note I am looking to secure the following back issues and I am hoping that someone may have finished with their copies prior to disposing of them. Back issues required for 2018 + 2017: 2018 - January / February / ...

Re: V8 250 auto gearbox fluid

Hello Dave, I have used Penrite Classic ATF in my V8-250 saloon without any issues whatsoever. Firstly it is mineral based and secondly it is Type A spec which is the requirement for our type of autoboxes. https://www.classic-oils.net/Penrite-Classic-ATF If any issues were likely to occur that will ...

Re: V8-250 Saloon: Engine & Gearbox Removal

Thanks Chris, That is very useful info, the reason I quoted 240kg dry is that there is a document on the DLOC archive section showing just that. However, if closer to 200kg then all the better !! If I run with a total of approx. 300 / 315kg I think I will be close enough to the money. Absolutely agr...

Re: 250 v8 rear hub removal (i hope)

You will be wasting your time with that type of hub puller for the rear units, I regret to say. The suggestion pitched by Chris is spot-on and I had to do exactly that - took it to an independent Jag dealer who was more than happy to assist; perked his day up by dealing with a real bit of engineerin...

Re: V8-250 Saloon: Engine & Gearbox Removal

Hello Stu, Many thanks for the advice and I am glad I asked - that all makes sense. With regret no post lift, just a decent hoist and a few chums !! I may look at raising the rear of the car a little higher than the front to assist with lift & swing - however not looked in to that yet and may not be...

V8-250 Saloon: Engine & Gearbox Removal

Hello, Towards the end of the year I am looking to remove the engine and auto g/box from my 1968 V8-250 saloon. Looking through the DLOC forum archive material I have identified the following unit weights, all bar the Autobox weight, as such I am happy with the lifting capacity requirement of engine...
