Re: Buying (or not) a Daimler Conquest Century

I am pleased to say that this thread has a happy ending, for the car if not necessarily for me. I sold the car today, to a father and son from Western Hungary. The new owners are friends of Misi, who started this thread. Between them, they have a very interesting collection of classic cars. They int...

SOLD 1957 CONQUEST CENTURY Mk2 AUTO

I am delighted to say that we found a new home for Delilah. She will live with a father and son, both classic car enthusiasts, in Papa in Western Hungary. I have recommended DLOC to the new owners, who intend to restore Delilah over the next couple of years. They intend to register her as an Old Tim...

Re: Buying (or not) a Daimler Conquest Century

Hi everyone I promised an update on here when there was something to report. Misi's friend and his father came to look at the car. The father has 3 interesting classic cars (an Ariel, a DKW and a "small" 150's Mercedes which is not a Ponton!), and could rebuild the engine himself. The son ...

Re: 1957 CONQUEST CENTURY Mk2 AUTO

I wanted to confirm that this car is still for sale, and to add information that I hope will be useful to any interested parties. This car has been the subject of discussion on the Daimler Forum, the thread is titled "Buying (or not) a Conquest Century". This is not a matching numbers car....

Re: Buying (or not) a Daimler Conquest Century

Thanks Grahams and Henry for your help and advice I tried to post a reply earlier - I entered "Submit" - but it seemed to disappear. Since then I've seen Graham E's reply, I agree. Misi's friend, Gabor, and his father are determined to get to Tiszafured on Thursday to look at Delilah. I ho...

Re: Buying (or not) a Daimler Conquest Century

Many thanks Graham

I know you have a lot on, and I greatly appreciate your explaining the engine/oil problem far better than I could.

Cheers

Danny

Re: Buying (or not) a Daimler Conquest Century

Just a quick update. Due to worsening weather conditions in Hungary, Misi's friend and his father (who has several classic cars) have had to postpone their trip to Tiszafured to look at the car until next week. I should find out today whether another man from Budapest, who would need to sell a Sprin...

Re: Buying (or not) a Daimler Conquest Century

Just a quick update. Unfortunately, the running Century engine for sale on ebay from classicfordspares is set up for the Wilson Pre-Select gearbox. The father of one of Misi's friends is interested in the car. Weather permitting, he will come to look at her on Thursday. I really hope she will soon f...

Re: Buying (or not) a Daimler Conquest Century

Hi Syd, et al I didn't reply before today because I hadn't been on the forum for ages. I only found this thread earlier today, then I replied straight away. I have quite a bit of paperwork relating to the car from 1998 (when the alte John Jarvis bought the car) up until 2013. From the point of view ...

Daimlers for Sale in Hungary

There are currently six Daimlers advertised on autotrader. Three are Super V8's. I have attached links for the other three, which are 50's/60's cars. https://www.hasznaltauto.hu/szemelyauto/daimler/super_v8/daimler_super_v8_majestic_major-13826469 https://www.hasznaltauto.hu/szemelyauto/daimler/conq...
