Surplus Parts

Dear Folks The lockdown in the UK got me to thinking that if I were to pop my clogs, no-one else in the family would have the first idea what any of my enormous pile of surplus parts are for, or indeed off!!! As a result I have been having an enormous clear-out, and some of the parts go back to an M...

Re: ss woodwork

I think it was mahogany, David. On my SS the four pieces around the inside of the windscreen were mahogany - polished and varnished, but not veneered. The dash and the door cappings were veneered hardwood - so it doesn`t really matter which hardwood, but I think they were mahogany as well. Hope this...

Re: Special Sports Door Seals

Actually, Chris, the one thing that I forgot to mention is that the seal that I got from Autohose was self-adhesive. Pros and cons, I suppose. In favour is the fact that the adhesive is designed for that rubber, and against is that it needs rather more care when fitting into the channel down the A p...

Re: Special Sports Door Seals

Oh you are really testing my memory now, Chris. The seal that I used fitted perfectly into the channels and was not a rubber/furflex combination. I`d suggest that you get a sample of the TR seal that is designed for the original channel. On my car the channel runs down the A Post to the sill, and th...

Re: Special Sports Door Seals

Hi Chris
When I fitted door seals to my SS I found that the best fit were TR4 door seals. With a little judicious measurement and cutting, you can make one length for the vertical section, and then superglue it to the rest, so that you have a one piece seal for each side.

Re: barker ss seat back

Well, David, a couple of points. Firstly, in terms of the rear bench seat - I`ve seen two others, and one had armrests and the other didn`t - so take your pick! ...and then, talking of the backs of the front seats - dead simple. They had the metal spring units like in a mattress, with fabric wadding...

Re: barker ss seat back

Now I did say that I was being thick, but...…………………… I understand that your front seats are like SS front seats.... ……..and I understand that your rear seat is a bench...…… ……..and I understand that you need a seat back ...……… ……..but am I to assume that it is a back for the REAR seats that you need?

Re: barker ss seat back

Hey-yup you two
David, I`m being a bit thick today, but am I correct in understanding that your front seat is a bench as well as the back? If that is the case, then sorry but I have even less idea than usual.
Barrie, I`ll try to send you some photos.
Cheers
Terry
