I had wondered if such a process might be a viable alternative to chrome plating on large parts such as bumpers. I repaired a DQ bumper and attempted to have it chromed but was told the welded patches would look bad under the chrome, obviously a skim of filler over them is not an option when chrome ...

There is rather a suspicious amount of muck where the D meets the paw and at the other end of the D where it meets the base. It could be random "barn-find dust" or it could have been put there to hide a non-original joint.

May not be quite as bad as Chris expects. Here's one on facebook ready to race a couple of years ago, all chrome removed and, you would think, sold. Also given how much the engines are listed for on ebay, that too would almost certainly be swapped out...hopefully! Cheers, John.

Just to complete this little album, here is a picture of the bike and my DQ taken today at Melbourne village festival; the Jag xk120, just visible behind the Excelsior's handlebars, is a seriously nice car.
