Try Barry Thorne. If no joy there contact Laurence Jones, I believe he had some made up for the club.

Re: V8 Engine - Broken / Cracked Bearing Cap Required !!!!

Am I getting my stories mixed up hear or was there a problem when Jaguar took over building the engine and knocked the crank forward and backwards with a lead hammer as they did with the XK engine, something to do with checking end float, and it cracked the housings. Sorry if I’m talking male dangly...

Re: Conquest electrical ‘pull’ capacity

You could carry a 60 ah battery and one of those small chargers (the Lidl ones are excellent) as a back up in case you run low on charge. You may also consider one of those small jump start thingies. That way if you have run your charge down without knowing and can’t start in the morning at least it...

Re: Dart electrics

I would guess that you have to determine why it wouldn’t start. First things first first, some simple tests, but before that how often has it happened often or just the once ? If its just the once then don’t stall it again so your not put in the same position. Testing would be to get it up to temp, ...

Re: Daimler Conquest

I was going to try Abbey fields next time but at the moment I am very happy with RHS. Maybe not the cheapest but lots included at standard rate and a good service without hours on the phone listening to musak and a recorded message saying “why not try our web site”.

Re: which battery for SP250

I’m a dynamo user personally so would stick with a good bosch or equivalently quality brand. The Lidl trickle chargers though are the one cheaper items I would be happy to invest in again.

Re: E10 & my dart won’t start

With all our old cars I would expect to replace all rubber parts at most every ten years. That being the case the fuel lines would be and have been upgraded hopefully before E10 nibbles it away. New rubbers I fit are bought in good faith that they are good quality and up to standard. Tank and carbs ...

Re: Daimler 15: stripped thread

It looks like part of a stud that stripped some time ago and wasn’t removed. It proberbly bound just enough to hold a new stud but then give up the fight when you removed it. The way to find out is measure the hole. If its 3/8ths or slightly more then it hasn’t been previously helicoiled.

At least the leaks show that the oil is in there and circulating.

Re: Dart ride height

Migray, don’t be too put out with the difference in side to side. It can depend on how the car was last driven to be stored. If you have to put hard lock on for instance to get into the garage or go over an uneven surface. Its the same when you jack up your car on one side, the tyres touch and grip ...
