Re: Brake pistons

There is quite an easy way to remove old rusted in pistons. If you send me a PM with your email address I will send you a description.
Wilf Stephens also had it on his list of advice sheets for the SP.

Re: 250 V8 20 MPH vibration

I have a fan and coupling which I was going to put on Ebay. Not sure of the coupling condition, it was on a spare engine that I bought.
The fan itself is a bit rusty but that would clean up OK. Water pump also available.
PM me if interested.

Re: Oil on cam cover?

Wipe up the excess oil then sprinkle talcum powder over the tappet cover.
After a few motoring trips you will be able to see from whence the oil cometh!

Re: Swopping from solid to wire wheels

I really can't remember if you can get at the bearing housing bolts to remove them with the hub in place. My car is an SP so may be different slightly to the saloon but the hub removal is much the same. If it's any use I have a suitable large puller which I purchased to remove my hubs and hope to se...

Re: Swopping from solid to wire wheels

The mistake people make is to depend on the puller to pull off the hub - it may but probably will not, and end up breaking as in the post above. Removing the rear hubs can be a real pain but the secret is not to rely solely on the puller to remove them. Ideally you need one of the big pullers that b...

Re: Daimler sp250 overdrive oil level

The aluminium castings of the J type body are different and there is a barrier over which the oil must flow to fill up the od body hence the need to fill the oil level to about 1/2 inch above the normal level. If you have the gearbox/od apart it is easy to drill a small hole through to allow the oil...

Re: SP 250 clutch

Most large towns have a motor factor who specializes in clutches and brakes so take your old plate and cover with their release bearing into them and they should be able to fix you up with a matching diaphragm clutch. Some clutches fitted to various models of Transit and Sherpa vans, Land Rovers and...

sparkplug caps

Has anyone come up with a suitable alternative to the old bakelite plug caps which I suspect are giving me problems with shorting out causing misfires?

Re: Side lamp LED's

Steve that link is to an American site which is fine but they charge 18$ for delivery to UK which is a bit steep.

Search for BA9s leds on ebay and you will find hundreds from 99p with free postage
