Hi Brian, had a spare 5 so did a sneaky disappearance to the workshop :D 1. connect E and A and A1 first - watch out for any heavy sparking and/or smoke again. slight spark when connecting A. 2. check for battery volts between E and A, and between E and A1 battery voltage OK 3. turn on the ignition ...

Hi Brian,
the car is a 1939 LA11 and don't know what was originally fitted.
RF72 maybe the part number for the regulator base
I bought the solid state relay from CDRC Ltd march 2021, part number ADR95 13A Pos earth. I had a conversation with Pete, told him the car and he said to get the ADR95.

Hi Syd,
do you know where I can find out what the gap for the contacts on RF91 regulator.
I have googled it but can't find anything?
Interestingly there is a fuse box on the Lanchester and the lighting circuit appears to be fused...
Time for some more investigation

Pete agree to take the regulator back and get it repaired for me.. He is at the Beaulieu autojumble so maybe a few weeks before I get it back.
Enough time hopefully to go through all the wiring and might just stay with the old regulator

Thank you Syd, I had a brain wave, and went in to the workshop and found the original voltage regulator :D Term A got battery power after connecting white and purple wire (23) Term A1 got battery power Connected wire (24) to term A1, connected battery and turned on ignition..
