Re: Engine identity??

Hi all, Henry C kindly put me onto this thread which I admit I had missed up to now. As the former EL24 Registrar I do think Henry might be correct in saying this is a head for an EL24. There were several people after one, but I have not spoken to anyone on this for some years. As Henry mentions, I ...

Re: Brake shoes for E20

This is another subject recently discussed on the RREC Forum. Some members, whose opinions I value, have been very complimentary about Friction Services in Bristol: https://www.frictionservicesltd.co.uk/ They may be able to help? PS: any RREC members reading this - it's sharing of technical informat...

Re: Stupid question

Al, it is the same fitting, same type font, everything is the same except it is red. I have no reason to think it is not original. I could replace it with a green one I suppose...

Re: Stupid question

Glad it worked for you Al, it didn't for me. Incidentally I notice your light is different from mine - which is red with OIL printed on it. So it should light up completely like the IGN light. But it does not.

Re: Stupid question

Al, I will be interested to see what you find - I did the same several years ago but it made no difference, because as I have said several times before, on my car the lens is almost opaque - even a bright LED torch could not be seen through it. Yours will hopefully be different.

Re: Stupid question

Brian, apologies if you think me dismissive, but frankly you are just waffling. I can only repeat; the brightness of the bulb isn't the issue, it is the fact that the oil lens, and not the IGN lens, appears to become opaque. None of your supposition or equations are in the slightest bit relevant to ...

Re: Stupid question

Missing the point by a mile - even a high powered LED torch did not show through the lens. It is not the wattage of the bulb that's the problem, it is the opacity of the lens. Do you have an equation for that?

1936 Daimler E20 CYK 444

What a lovely looking car - properly dignified in the Daimler manner. Last seen at Historics in June 2016 estimated at £24-28K but unsold. Coincidentally Brian Smith's E20, an almost identical car, was sold by Historics in 202, going for £16K. https://www.historics.co.uk/buying/auctions/2023-09-23/c...
