Loved the pictures, Hans - we were due to do the "Grand Tour" in September, but all cancelled now
Next year at Spa looks like our next meet-up now.......
best regards
John (& Pat)

Re: SP250 Rear Spring Removal Problem
Hi Cameron, my car has conventional bolts in that position - the heads stay just clear of the body - so if you get the nut off you shouldn't have a problem if you do have to change the bolt. Have you tried a nut splitter? I've got them in a couple of sizes and you should be able to get one onto that...

Re: SP250 Replacement Leaf Springs
Yes, Cameron, the rear shock conversion is very straightforward to fit and makes a real difference to the roadholding - the rear end feels very much more "taut" and cornering roll is much reduced. Feels good so far!

Re: SP250 Replacement Leaf Springs
Also just fitted a set of Owen springs, as supplied by Robert Grinter with his rear shock absorber conversion kit, and am very pleased with the change in ride quality. As an aside, my springs were new 10,000 miles ago and yet were so worn the complete spring eye bush fell out of one when I took the ...

Re: Engine core plug popped out today
John, other than access, there's nothing difficult about replacing these coreplugs so no need for a specialist. The solid bit you feel is the other side of the water jacket (cylinder liner) as you thought . It's probably best to remove the rad so the hole can be cleaned to take the new coreplug ( I ...

Re: securing an age related plate for my A prefix DB 18
IIRC, There was a period in the late 70's early 80's prior to computerisation of the DVLA records when a batch of "A" suffixes were issued as replacement numbers for ones taken off by "registration robbers" who bought cars for their registration numbers then sold them on. I think...

Re: Worm wheel.
Hello Marcel, not a thread I would normally contribute to as I'm not familiar with these early models, but I have a fusty copy of "Daimler and Lanchester Speciifications" dated 1938, so I had a quick look to see if there was any reference to a 7:38 ratio (5.43:1). I found that ratio listed...

Re: securing an age related plate for my A prefix DB 18
Hi Marcus, a simple and straightforward way to do this if youre not trying to get the vehicle's original number back is to simply pretend your current "A"plate is a cherished (private) plate. You can apply online to take this number off the vehicle using this page: https://www.gov.uk/perso...

Hi Tim,
I have the full colour copy as a Word file - if you PM me with your email address I'll happily forward it to you. (It's about 2Mb with pictures, so way too big to attach here!)
Cheers,
John

Re: V8-250 Saloon: Carb Fuel Pipes
Richard, AFAIK your setup looks correct - the cross-pipe should be 1/4" inside dia to suit the carb inlets, and the main feed should be 5/16" inside diameter. (The SP is different in that the N/S carb has a "through-T" connection, so the feed from the filter bowl is 1/4" ID,...
