Those that served
Being Veterans Day it is most appropriate to Salute all the members who faithfully served their country, as well as the members of their families who have served or are in service now protecting us all.
Just a welcome home or a thank you is never enough, but it is a start.

Re: Piston ring gap on new engine build *How important is it?*

Paid for, back in the drawer waiting for you or a friend to use. Cheap as chips. I see how hard it is to use a dremel cut off wheel on my dogs nails let ...

Re: Piston ring gap on new engine build *How important is it?*
GAP is very important and the orientation of the rings is also. Re: First start after rebuild

The ZINC in break-in oils saves the cams' lobes and bearings as well as cranks' bearings when first starting a new rebuild and helps keep the hardened surfaces hard. It is changed out after the break-in period and it and the filters contents are exami...

Re: redneck version, variant II. A slow process towards the same result is to pour Coke or other cola beverage into the area with the appropriate gravity path and wait. The carbolic acid in the syrup mix acts like a rust remover and surprisingly works in stranger problems. They also make high streng...

Re: scraping noise at front of engine.
How many miles on the engine, how was it running beforehand? Something is loose or moving or recently impacted. Where is the "hit" located on the inside of the cover, cam or crankshaft area? Any sign of impact on cover from road debris when driving that would have pushed it in? Any stretch...
