Daimler 15 Honeycomb Grille
I have the radiator and surrounds off my 1937 15 Sports Saloon. The chrome surround contains the honeycomb grille which I assume was bare metal because it's all slightly rusty.
Can anyone tell me whether the honeycomb was treated or painted in any way when the cars were new?

Good luck in your hunt for parts. Am I correct in thinking that the DB 17-1 (new fifteen) has the same engine as the last of the original fifteens, i.e. the 2166 cc engine, and that later versions (i.e. DB 17-2) had the 2.5 litre engine? Marcel, not sure what you mean by "socket cap": is it the end that is in contact with the radiator surround?

I am trying to remove the radiator. In order to do so, I have to remove the headlamp support bars each side. I have undone the three bolts that attach the Socket Cap to the radiator housing, however I'm not sure how to progress further. I can't tell if the Locknut threads on to the Headlamp Carrier ...

The overflow pipe on my spare radiator is about a foot too short so I'll extend it with some supported rubber tube to vent the overflow liquid down below the bottom.
