Re: Daimler 1936 Restoration project
It's a 1936 Daimler 15 Sports Saloon. I'm puzzled by the registration document stating engine capacity as 2107 cc. The Daimler 15 had 3 engines: 1805 cc for 1933 & 1934, 2003 cc for 1935, 2166 cc for 1936 onwards. My car is the same model as the ebay car, namely a 1936 Sports Saloon. It has Girl...

Hot Spot gasket material (Daimler 15)
A part of the exhaust manifold on my 1937 Daimler 15 Sports Saloon is coupled to the inlet manifold to pre-heat the fuel vapour. I need to make a replacement gasket to fit between the manifolds that is capable of withstanding exhaust temperatures. The gasket is rectangular, roughly 10cm x 4cm. What ...

Re: Ethanol in petrol
Fascinating! I wonder what dye he used in the water. Was the dye added to make it easier to see, or does it play some part in assisting the transfer of ethanol from the petrol to the water?

Re: Rocker Shaft (Daimler 15, 2166cc engine)
Thanks Frenchy, really helpful. I've got the head off so I'll assemble the rocker shaft onto the head before putting the head back on the block - it's so easy for bits to fall down the push rod holes in the head and block!

Re: Can't add pictures to posts
Thanks for the comments. I emailed myself from my tablet (where I took the photos) to my PC. The app that I used to send the photos to my PC applied some kind of compression algorithm that my PC attempted to decode and didn't quite get it right. So I did it the hard way: connected my tablet to my PC...

Rocker Shaft (Daimler 15, 2166cc engine)
One of the unfortunate consequences of dropping the rocker assembly when I removed it from the head is that I have no reference for the reassembly of the two halves of the shaft. In the photos I show what I think the correct configuration is, namely the holes in the outer ends and the recesses where...

Re: What is a straight line?
I seem to recall reading that a straight line is a segment of a circle of infinite radius.
Also, it is the shortest locus of all points between two separate points.
How can such a simple concept be so difficult to explain?!

Re: Daimler 15 2166 cc engine valves needed
Thank you Stan. I've sourced the exhaust valves but finding the inlet valves is proving more difficult. If I have no success I'll get in touch with whatever data I can find about the dimensions etc. of the inlet valves and hopefully your friend could help me out.
