Re: Daimler DF306 2 door Hooper bodied car
I've dug out my copies of the Hooper record too, and as noted above it confirms Dave's suggestion: 3.5 litre chassis no 91452, body no 10023, a 2 door body design no 8380, date of delivery July 1954. I suspect that Mr Verbrugge was either Belgian or Dutch. Google tells me that there was a Belgian ar...

Re: Daimler DF306 2 door Hooper bodied car
Yes, it's a larger engine than a Century's 2.4 litre, so likely a 3.5 litre or larger. I thought that the no plate might be Belgian, but it's a long time since I was there. I think the other part of the front bumper, lying on its front and not visible at the front of the car, is also in the boot.

Re: Daimler DF306 2 door Hooper bodied car
Dave Philpot and Darren Watkinson kindly pointed this out to me, but I regret that it is not the missing Dauphin. Thank you for reproducing my earlier post on the topic of the DJ256 Hooper Empresses. Dave thinks it's the 3.5 litre DF306 chassis no 91452, Hooper body no 10023 which is noted on p206 o...

Re: Green Stuff pads - SP250
I've also had Greenstuff pads all round without problems for many years. I did have squeal troubles a long long time ago but these were completely cured by shims which are still in place. If your pads are sitting slightly too high is it possible that there is an issue at the curved bottoms of the pa...

Re: SP250 spark plug
With apologies to those who may feel offended, why do so many recommend NGK plugs? I tried many of the recommended types from various sources about 40 years ago, and they all misfired after relatively short periods of time; and no, there was nothing relevant wrong with the engine, no excessive oil c...

Re: Inlet manifold
Hi everyone This thread has brought to my mind a couple of memories relating to water consumption from Daimler V8 and other cylinder heads: First, the most distant, from the late 60s and one of my first attempts to remove a cylinder head, from a Conquest, or it may have been a Century. It was an ear...

Re: 1956 Hooper Empress III
Hi Marc Good to 'meet' you! I have a 1954 Daimler Dauphin, the first of three made on the DJ256 MkI Century chassis. It has the Hooper Empress design but shrunk cleverly to fit the smaller chassis, and has only two doors with a lowered roof line: it is really a 2+2 Empress style fixed head coupe, bu...
