Re: Lopsided saloon with new rear springs
Perhaps swaping the springs left for right may tell you where the problem lies. I THINK they are interchangable??

Re: Engine dying after short distance
The most likely components are the coil and/or condenser failure when hot.

Re: Wiring harness routing SP250 B type LHD
With the benefit of having both a right & left hook in my shed, they both apear to be the same except: Steering column wires (indicator & horn) have longer wires routed behind grill. High/ Low beam switch wiring on left instead of centre right. Battery on Right HS but solenoid on left as per...

Check the cork gasket on the oil filler cap.... Oil mist can escape there.

Re: intermittent no start.
The inhibitor switch is on the left side of the gearbox, quite tricky to get at. (It is round with 4 wires on it). It incorporates both the start inhibit switch and the reverse light switch. If it only starts with the brakes depressed, it must be wired incorrectly! The switch has a push rod activate...

Re: coil resistance .SP
All well here! 0.5 ohms! At 12 volts, thats 24 amps! It must surely be a capacitor discharge system or have some form of current limiting. These used to be common in 2 stroke outboard motors, plugs had no need for earth electrode, enough voltage to spark to anywhere!!!! Coil for each plug, no distri...

Re: coil resistance .SP
Hi Steve. A standard 12volt coil should be 3 - 3.5 ohm primary. Current with points closed static about 3.5 amps. Low resistance coils only for use with ballasted ignition systems. ie fixed resistor in series with coil which is bypassed when starter engaged.

Re: DB18 Marles Steering Box
"IF" it is just the rockershaft bushes, it is easiest done in the car, if it is anything else, yes best to remove the box. With my Consort, all the wear was in the rockershaft and the idler bushes. I had the rocker shaft professionally machined and new bushes made, just needed a light ream...

Re: DB18 Marles Steering Box
Firstly, can you confirm that it is the rocker shaft bushes. do this by having someone rock the steering wheel while you look under the steering box. The bottom of the shaft and drop arm will be seen to move from side to side indicating wear in shaft and/or bushes. Also while you're under there, che...

Re: DB18 Marles Steering Box
The most likely problem with these is the rocker shaft bushes. I have replaced these "in situ" . I did an article describing same for DLOCNZ magazine some years ago. I could look it out if you wish. Same can be done for Conquest....
