Re: V8 250, but is it for real?

You can't tell how long ago it was last used except more than 1 year. The seller has been a member for 13 years. It doesn't look like a scam to me. Why not contact the seller and ask if you can come and view the car? Usually scam sales are classified or fixed price adverts rather than auctions, the ...

Little surprise there then after previous appeals were ignored. Members are obviously just an irrelevance.

Re: engine oil

I have written about this quite a few times because the myth still seems to persist that a 10/40 is somehow thinner than a straight grade 40. It is not. Well, not all the time. When cold, a 10/40 oil will flow like a 10 grade oil. When hot a 10/40 will flow like a straight 40 oil. When cold a 10/40 ...

Re: mayonnaise gloop in rockerbox

I would rather it run cool than boil over frequently like some old cars I know. Running cool is almost as bad as running too hot. If you are running cool, the parts have not expanded to their optimum, fuel consumption is increased and oil temperatures do not get to their optimum which means that co...

Re: DQ and DR450 paint

Hi Hendrik, many thanks for the clarification. I did not understand about the differing ledgers, Daimler versus Jaguar and what you say now make it quite clear. A switchover at June 1966 make sense of about 750 cars before then and the balance after that time. This also seems to show how production ...

Re: mayonnaise gloop in rockerbox

I agree it is condensation caused by the engine not getting hot enough. This will not only be manifesting itself in this area, your oil will also be contaminated and degraded by condensation. Removal of the "mayonnaise" will have to be done manually, I don't think you can drive it off. If ...

Re: DQ and DR450 paint

Hendrik, can you please explain your numbers a bit more. It was my understanding that Jaguar acquired Daimler in 1960 and the DR450 was not launched until 1961 which means all DR450 production was under Jaguar ownership. Also, I thought there was about 865 DR450. Your numbers seem to suggest more. A...

Re: sp250 anti freeze

The pink antifreeze was first introduced in the early 1990's therefore I very much doubt it was recommended for your SP250. Unless you have a very late model! There are essentially three basic types of antifreeze: Traditional blue antifreeze which was the original universal formula that everybody us...

Re: ebay

You won't get ebay to block these irrelevant adverts/listings since it is ebay's own facilities that are making it come up as suitable for "x" model of car. The same item is "suitable" for every car possible and you will find it come up in listings no matter what make or model of...
