Re: Cool running in a V8 2.5
Good morning, Gordon. The thermostat should be 82 degrees in the V8 saloon for normal climate running and I would suggest you replace the current thermostat for one of these. In addition you need to ensure the thermostat has an air bleed escape hole on the flange, if not it will prevent the air in t...

Re: Antifreeze
Hello Charles,
The FBHVC issued an advice note a few years ago and have to say it sums the topic up very nicely. In addition, saves my fingers on the keyboard !!
See attached and hope it assists to explain why OAT is a no no for older classic cars.
Best wishes.
Richard.

Hello Charles.
Absolutely MUST drain the orange AF - it is an OAT based product and completely unsuitable for a 1952 engine. Flush the system through a couple of times and refer to the above product.
Regards.

Re: Antifreeze
Now you can imagine what it did with all my older cars. They are registered at DVLA, I have checked, yet none appears on the Halfords web page! Older vehicles and by that I mean classics pre 80's do not appear on many of these "enter reg" search stations albeit they are registered with DV...

Re: Choke won't go down
Hello Glen. I would suggest that you disconnect the choke cable from the carbs and then check if the choke lever travels fully downwards. If it does, then that might suggest that the cable has slipped from the choke point securing screw on the carb. If so, you will need to set the cable again on the...

Re: I never knew Pilkington's could still make windscreens for some of our cars
A couple of years ago I made an enquiry with Pilkington purely out of interest, at one of the big classic car shows, for a HRW on a V8 saloon. The cost was £680, with no show discount !! I walked away feeling very happy that I had secured a decent second hand HRW for £150, some time back. Regards. R...

Yes, that is a very striking Consort - I do like the mix of black & silver coachwork.
As you say Mark, a great snip at £9K at the ACA and that included the buyer's premium. I note Brightwells set their BP at 12%
