Century distributor warm weather fitting tip.
A brief but possibly useful tip? I've spent some time dealing with the distributor on my Century lately, having found that the body was seized in the rev counter cable drive bracket, and I couldn't rotate the former in the latter to vary the amount of advance or retardation. With a moderate degree o...

Re: Hooper Daimlers
Hi Everyone Yet another post following a long absence from the Forum, either time is passing much faster or I'm taking much longer to do things, or perhaps both. I had composed a post yesterday but it disappeared completely when I clicked 'submit'. So here is another attempt, if this doesn't work yo...

Re: SP250 brake pads
Many many many moons and thousands of miles ago I recall finding a set of Girling anti-squeal shims in Halfords. Since the SP brakes did squeal a lot then - it was my everyday transport - I fitted a set to the front calipers. I also cut down a set to fit to the rear calipers. The squeal disappeared ...

David,
I'm currently looking for a Century Mk II rear axle, or even a Mark I; any possibility of one of those being available?

Re: Quentin Willson's Dart for sale
I wonder if the history is as well known as some claim. I knew this car in the early 70s before QW bought it. It belonged to a GP in Forfar, a small town south of Aberdeen fairly close to Glamis Castle where the first owner the Countess of Strathmore lived. I was a junior hospital doctor in Aberdeen...

Re: SP250 Exhaust Manifold
Julian Look up Stainless Exhaust Specialist via Google. They make two types of stainless steel manifolds for the SP. Both a 4:2:1 style, and a copy of the original 4:1 manifold. I've had a pair of the 4:2:1 type on my SP for over 10 years and about 20,000 miles. They're beautifully made with a perfe...

Re: UFOs & Aliens
John, Brian, Found It!!! This is how I think of it: human civilisation is not very old, just a few thousand years, and so stories of Gods have come down to us from the relatively recent past, whether from the Greeks and Romans or from tribal peoples in more remote parts of the current world. These I...

Re: UFOs & Aliens
Brian, John Oh dear. I've just spent some time writing a further draft post, which I had to leave temporarily so I saved it; but alas, when I opened my user control panel to return to it I found the message 'no saved drafts'. I cannot recall exactly what I'd written, and I can't spend any more time ...

Re: UFOs & Aliens
Brian and John I think that we three are the main, perhaps only, contributors to this thread now, so I'll just address this to you both. I've no wish to offend, and I agree that the question of Aliens visiting this world is almost certainly irrelevant, but I would classify those who believe in it as...

Re: SP Heater issue
I'm not sure whether this is worth mentioning, but how many original SP heater matrices are still going to be in a pristine state in 2020/21? Mine hadn't delivered heat for years leading up to 2010, so when the engine came out in 2011 a new matrix was among the other things to do. The original had n...
