Re: BSS Auxiliary Electric fan

Hi Roger, I have only experienced overheating once with my SS; it was a combination of a very hot day and stationery traffic. The overheating manifested itself as premature fuel evaporation. So I would not rush into fitting an electric fan, as nobody else appears to have done this, and you would be ...

Interior Door Handle

My DB18 interior door handle is broken where it fixes onto the square shaft, does anybody have one for sale?
Overall length is 110mm and it is marked WB H273, so as a Wilmott Breedon product must have been used on other cars of the period.

Re: Crossply Tyres

Thanks Mark, not sure I understand the science behind it , but if it works that could be my solution. Reading their website, I wondered if it is possible for the tyre to move slightly around the rim of the wheel, leaving the tube held in place by its valve stem? Unlike a tubeless tyre , there is no ...

Re: Crossply Tyres

It’s only after having refurbished every part of the front suspension that I began to suspect the tyres, but nevertheless I would hate to replace the tyres, and still have the same issues. I’m currently favouring Blockleys, but crossply or radials? There are pros and cons that have been previously w...

Re: Crossply Tyres

Thanks Graham, I found your 2019 post when I did a search on this topic, What size Maxxis did you fit and did you have the issue of speedometer calibration that Mark referred to? Another concern I have about fitting radials is fouling of the tyre wall against the longitudinal arm of the front suspen...

Crossply Tyres

I would be interested in the experiences of other owners who have fitted budget crossply tyres to pre 1960 Daimlers. My own DB18 Special Sports is fitted with Waymaster Premiums. I’ve never liked them ; they are totally non compliant, producing a harsh ride and occasional vibration when a wheel drop...

Re: Barker SS Hood

Hi Roger, If only to give you a choice of suppliers, try Kent Car Upholstery near Canterbury; they replaced my Barker SS hood in 2016. The cost was £3500 (including new carpets), which I thought excellent value and it still looks good 7 years later. I can take some close up photos, if you want to se...

Re: Turn signal horn assembly

Why not make your own harness: all you need is a few metres of 4 core cable with an outside diameter slightly less than the internal diameter of tube through which the cable runs up the steering column. Then solder or crimp ring terminals at one end and bullet connectors at the other end. Job done a...

Re: Barker SS Power Steering

I think you will find that the man in Dawlish is the UK agent for EZ Power Steering, which is a Dutch company that actually produce the hardware. Their website has some photos of a Barker SS to which they have fitted their system. The photos show the motor installed under the dash and the way that t...
