Re: 104 Sportsman Tyres

That's a racing tyre, not really suitable (or insurable?) for road use. I think I would go for the Avon Turbosteel radial, which is still expensive enough!!

Re: 104 Sportsman Tyres

Hello Barrie, I am a great fan of Blockley tyres, but whilst they do make a 650/16, it is in their 5 stud design which might not suit the car. Longstone offer Avon crossply (Turbospeed) and radial (Turbosteel) in 670/16, which seem to be about the same overall width, which will preserve the looks an...

Re: Pre war door cards.

Hi Jed, no the door cards are still wearing the original leather, as is the arm rest. The interior was restored by Stan Arblaster around 15 years ago. He clearly put some thought into it. The seat cushions were covered with new leather in a very similar shade of blue to the original, and the door ca...

Re: Pre war door cards.

Hope this might help - my car is a later ELS24 but the door cards are original as far as I know. THis is the rear but the fronts are the same pattern.

Re: daimler el24

Terry, many thanks, both for the details and the kind words!

Bob, I expect I do have your car details but not under your name - nobody called Bob Moody on my list. For info, Daimler made 700 EL24s of one sort or another, so a 10% survival rate which isn't bad.

Re: daimler el24

Bob, Terry, Would you both mind confirming your chassis numbers please? I used to be the DLOC Registrar for the EL24, and I try to keep an eye on where cars are, what state they are in etc so I can connect up people, histories and cars. I have information on most of the 70 or so survivors, so have p...

Re: Daimler EL24 on Car and Classic, not a lot of money

Ron, They were a type of shock absorber where the resistance to movement is provided by elastic rubber rather than oil. They look pretty much like any pre-war Luvax type shock, they just have rubber in them. Article here: https://archive.commercialmotor.com/article/17th-september-1948/41/uncured-rub...

Re: Unkown Daimler?

'Needs work' well that's one way of putting it. Definitely a DE36, which had the individual spare wheel cases mounted on the wings.
