Re: DE27/36 Clayton deWandre servo

Hello Stan,

I've a member with an EL24 needing advice on the brake servo - could you possibly send me a copy of the CDW handbook you have? Happy to pay as necessary. I did send a private email, did you get it?

all the best

Re: Breaking for spares

Yes, there seems to be a consensus amongst the classic car 'chatterati' that pre-war cars are out of fashion, yet go to any VSCC meeting and you see plenty of young people whizzing around in Austin 7s. I do think the pre-war car world is somewhat secretive, and isn't given the coverage that later ca...

Re: Breaking for spares

Syd, I don't think it is just about the number, it is simply a matter of economics. Restoring any car isn't cheap, let alone a pre-war one where many of the necessary skills such as wood frame work, traditional panel beating and white metalling are hard to come by and expensive. If the car needs sub...

Re: Mystery Car badge.

No problems as far as I know - if you read my recent EL24 Register article Duncan Saunders used his Charlesworth saloon as a tow car very successfully.

They say boat owners only truly have 2 good days.

The day they buy it.

The day they sell it.

Re: tyres

Syd, Just my opinion of course, but I think cheap tyres are a false economy. We could debate the safety aspects of cheap vs expensive tyres, but beyond that, if you are only going to do 1000 miles a year, don't you want it to be memorable for all the right reasons? Even if decent tyres are twice the...

Re: Oil and ZDDP

I have used Penrite products for years, the Classic Medium in my Bentley S3 and Shelsley Medium in the Daimler. I find them very good, if a bit expensive. I did not like their Steering Box semi fluid grease though, it didn't do what it was supposed to do, and I found Millers Worm Steering Box oil be...

Colin Croft's car, which I am helping him to sell. In very good all round condition, lots of history, and a fully repaired head, so absolutely ready to go.
