Re: The preselector (Wilson) gearbox
If you have the fluid coupling then yes, providing the idle speed is low. You must remember to set the hand throttle back to low speed setting.

Re: The preselector (Wilson) gerabox
Hi Stefan. I have a pre select Daimler Fifteen with fluid flywheel, and an Armstrong Siddeley Fifteen (1933) also with pre select transmission but no fluid flywheel. On the Armstrong Siddeley you have to employ the gear change pedal as a clutch on starting away in first or reverse much as in a manua...

Lucas made a kit, which you can still get, that fits neatly under the dash and is compact, with the wiring all made up. All you need is to interconnect to the existing system under the dash at the indicator switch connections. There's loads on eBay. Example: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=h...

Re: SP250 wiper motor
Take one of the screws out from the body of the motor and sniff it. If there is an acrid burnt smell, chances are the armature has overheated and is shorted in which case obtain a spare motor. If it smells OK, it might just need brushes and a clean up of the commutator. They are quite common and man...

Re: A warning for all pre war owners.....
The change to Negative earth more recently (60's) was due to the advent of electronics in components such as transistor radios, regulators and electronic ignition as it was grossly more expensive to make components for positive earth. Nowadays, all electronics are pretty much cheap as chips, but the...

It was nothing to do with the bushes, but a simple case of incorrect assembly of the lower yoke to the splined shaft. There is a machined recess in the very bottom of the column for the pinch bolt that clamps the...
