Re: 1957 Daimler 104 Sportsman

Latest progress report. I still have not driven the car! I want to do a proper job in making the car reliable, safe and generally the best I can do but I seem to be stuck in the ‘While We Are Here’ syndrome. It started with a faulty valve so off came the head and WWAH sent away for machining and fet...

Re: Daimler Barker Special Sports LLJ 327

So sorry to have taken so long to respond John. Here’s a tale about my beloved Barker. After I sold it in 1980 I lost track of it until it came up for auction at Bonhams about 10 years ago. It was a nice summers day so I decided on a trip out to see it during one of the viewing days. When I arrived ...

Re: Daimler distributor unknown application

Thanks Richard, most interesting.
As the distributor appears not to suit a Daimler I won’t deprive an Austin Healy owner of treasure.

Re: Daimler distributor unknown application

So close to my 104 Sportsman!
The DM6A matches but does anyone know what the remaining three set of numbers refer to and are the two distributors interchangeable?

Re: Daimler distributor unknown application

I’m afraid I can’t answer your question Mike but your kind offer raises an interesting point. There are lots of us who own or have owned a Daimler and have unused parts just hanging around on shelves and boxes doing nothing whereas there are others (ie me!) desperately looking for parts. I wonder if...

Re: Power steering

Hello Paul I’ve looked into this and I think the first Daimler to have PAS was the Majestic (followed by the Majestic Major) which used an hydraulic ram to actuate the steering. I have heard (but not seen or confirmed) that there is a c1954 Regency Sportsman which had PAS retrofitted. I believe this...

Re: Trico Vacuum Washer Fault Finding Instructions

Windscreen washers weren’t alway mandatory. I seem to remember them becoming required in the 60’s
I fitted a manual pump to my first car, a 100e Ford Anglia.
There was no spare vacuum capacity on that weedy engine as what vacuum that was available was reserved for the windscreen wipers!

Trico Vacuum Washer Fault Finding Instructions

When going through my old Daimler papers I found this which I hope someone finds useful if not in general circulation. l.jpg m.jpg n.jpg They were used in the 1950s before a reliable electric motor was found. Silent to use but prone to air leaks I seem to remember. Does anyone still use them on thei...

Re: 104 Brochure (Ladies' Model)

Surely there was a Mapomatic included in the extra’s 🤔 I am now the proud and fascinated owner of this antediluvian sat-nav. What an amazing device and not a Motorway in sight. There will be so much less traffic with one of these. Still looking for jack, starting handle, wheel brace and tyre pump. ...

Just love the tap on the heater pipe.
