Re: Daimler Majestic Major numbers
As far as I understood the lineage goes back through the 104 and to the Regency. By the time the Majestic Major came out the basic design was almost decade old.

Re: Daimler Majestic Major numbers
DR450 = RHD Limousine
DR451 = LHD Limousine.
The numbers were published in the workshop manual and for Limousine there was not any separation.

Re: Daimler Majestic Major reg SYL 890
Any car registered in August 1967 would have had to have an "F" suffix registration unless the first owner transferred a previous registration to the car. It would not have been lawful in 1967 to issue SYL 890 without the "F" suffix to the car.

Re: Daimler Majestic Major reg SYL 890
SYL was a London issued number on 2 occasions. Firstly from June 1956 until about May 1957 and secondly with an "F" suffix from August 1967 until about January 1968. Normally the DVLA require a pre-1982 document that shows both the chassis number and the registration number being claimed. ...

Re: Ethanol?
Petrol has quite a limited shelf life. Only a few months. Generally the view is it will keep for about 6 months in a sealed container. The fuel system in a car is not a sealed system so the volatile compounds will evaporate leaving residues behind.

How quickly do they return the deposit if either you don't bid or if you do bid and are unsuccessful?

ACA require a credit card to be added and charge £500 to it if you win. You then pay the balance by bank transfer. Mathewsons require a credit card but invoice you the full amount and let you pay however you wish. Copart require a non-refundable registration fee before being allowed to bid. Not sure...

Re: Daimler Majestic being broken
I suspect that is a dodgy MOT to facilitate a registration transfer, probably why the seller in insistent it is a parts car. He can't risk someone checking the history too closely. Current registration 172 XVM which is reverse format. I think this is a series used by the DVLA as an age related issue...
