Re: Brake bellows

Doing some research on the internet I discovered that some commercial trailers had either the same system or one that was based upon the same principle. Bedfords of the same era might have the same as the expander looks the same. I am awaiting response from one or two sources. Now thinking somewhat ...

Re: Brake bellows

I contacted Derek Sleigh who asked for the dimensions in Imperial figures and he won't be back from Germany until next month. David Beales has not replied. I think David Barlow you might have a point. The size of the larger part of the assembly cannot be changed, it bolts to the back plate and into ...

Re: Brake bellows

Oh that's a shame. I think they must be the ones that are available from Vintage Supplies who used to be Paul Beck I think. Thank you for the offer though. I suspect I will have to investigate the possibility if having some made. I need some and there must be sufficient DE models that need them. The...

Re: Brake bellows

Well that wasn't too successful! The top photo is the "spanner" I made to remove the bearing nuts. Heath and Robinson might not have been impressed.

Re: Brake bellows

Thank you for the suggestions.
I attach a couple of photos of the original items. I had hoped to contact some companies today to see if they could make some of the correct dimensions.

Re: 1949 Daimler DE36 for Auction

I was at the auction at Bonhams, Oxford. Most of the people there appeared to be dealers who stood at the back, conversing in loud voices. I am not sure why some of them were even there at all. This car was tucked into a corner next to a Lagonda, if my memory is correct. It looked sad and unloved an...

Brake bellows

On the backplate of a DE27/36 there is a bellows where the actuating rod passes through into the brake actuator itself. After fifty plus years the rubber suffers from ageing and deteriorates to the point where it's very brittle. I have contacted Vintage Supplies and the only ones they can supply hav...

Degreaser

Having removed both back plates and hubs etc I need a decent degreaser. I have one that is in stock and that's made by Comma but I wonder if it's as good as something else that is available. I was hoping to resurrect a proper parts washer where the dirty material is washed into a drum but that would...

Re: DE36

I have been unable to work on the car until this afternoon. I would like to be able to remove all the shoes to remove burned in grease which has filled in all the rivet holes and run an angle grinder lightly over the surfaces to remove any residue. Is there an easy way to remove the shoes without st...
