.... I wonder if the lubrication plates were fitted to all cars ; or were they introduced during production at some point(?) My car is a B-Spec ..... The lubrication plates were only fitted to cars built after the Jaguar takeover in 1960, although I'm not sure on which car they were first introduced.

The nearest thing you'll find to a VIN is the 'car' number. On the SP this is stamped on a plate tacked to the front of the chassis, shown here... chassis plate.JPG The markings are often nearly illegible these days... Plate 1.JPG .... and the plate can sometimes be missing after aggressive chassis ...

I don't know of any source for replacement bushes. I replaced mine with high modulus RTV - see here.

It's hard to imagine any commercial engine that is not a design compromise in one respect or another. Wow - got to be worth it for that Concours look! ..... or you could buy this - though it does come without the vintage rust.
