Re: Carpet fitting advice
Hi, ok looks like you have different underlay to mine? I fitted the G/B with carpet running under the top footwell carpet as in underneath, same with the cills area, but use very strong glue for the cill area. as for the gluing the underlay I left mine loose and clamped in using the top carpet butto...

Re: Carpet fitting advice
Hi, I fitted the footwell felt or do you mean underlay? mine was a green colour and I placed it in position using the holes that should be cut out to match the carpet securing clips, the edges should go over the top of the underlay/felt and then be covered by the top cover carpets, the front footwel...

Re: spitting back through Carbs
Hi, just a thought about the coils, I have changed a coil on this system, and I specified a epoxy filled type not an oil filled type, you might also have an issue with HT leads going out of resistance and the pertronix system can knock them out, and I remember from years back that pertronix had issu...

Re: spitting back through Carbs
Hi, it does sound like an ignition issue, I have the pertronix system fitted, I had a similar issue with lack of performance and spitting back and no power etc, check the rotor arm for movement on the shaft, it must be a nice tight fit, this could be an issue if the arm is moving on a worn shaft or ...

Re: V8-250 Saloon: Under Bonnet Insulation - Adhesive
Hi, the only glue/adhesive I know that could withstand the engine bay heat is the high heat glue from woollies, it is normally used on vinyl roof applications, but as a safety measure you can put thin wire across the material and tie it off. but there might a better solution with a polymer adhesive?...

Re: V8-250 Saloon - Battery Positioning & Securing
Hi, never had this issue in my v8 or mk2 jag, only thing I changed was a swap to a plastic battery tray which for me at least helped the battery location and the tray seems more fixed in place when you use the original clamp setup, but some rubber helps around the battery. no movement at all when do...

Re: V8-250 Saloon: Thermostat
Hi, yes there are a few versions of the thermostat, I fitted my with a 70-75c sleeve type as fitted to the xk engines, but the sleeve type are a bit more expensive than the standard type, never had a sleeve type fail on me, well put it this way mine is 17 years old and has never failed to open and c...
