Re: V8 250 Tacho registration

Are you in fact talking about the speedometer ? The tachometer on the saloons( which in English shows engine speed ) has no driving cable but is electrically driven from an AC generator on the distributor shaft. Or is your car an SP250 rather than a saloon ?

Re: V8 250 Saloon Rear Axle

I'm not sure about mark 2s, but E types of the era had the actual diff casing painted in Glyptol with a reddish/orange colour, which sounds as though it may be what you are seeing

Re: LHD MAN/OD challenge, 2.5 V8 Saloon

The original lhd master cylinders have the tank body running parallel to the bulkhead, thus avoiding your problem. The cylinder is a standard mark 2 Jaguar part and should be available from the usuals such as SNG Barratt, who seem to list it as C20526# , the right hand drive one apparently being C20...

Re: Ignition Interference

Probably the easiest way of screening radio interference in a fibreglass car is to glue a thin sheet of aluminium foil to the underside of the bonnet, and then either paint this or if matting is fitted, put the matting on top of it

Re: Daimler V8 Power Steering

Tim : I cannot remember exactly where the XJ6 setup causes problems, but I think it is ( as you have referred to ) connected with the angles the track rod arms adopt particularly when the wheels drop below the static datum when going over bumps etc and more importantly when the inside wheel drops un...

Re: Daimler V8 Power Steering

The xj6 rack is not really suitable although as tjt has stated there are people who sell it. The problem is that it alters the steering geometry on a mark 2, and requires fairly major alterations to the subframe. I would only do it as a last resort

Quote : " plus the V angle is narrower"

The V angle of the Rover is not narrower. It is 90 degrees as with the Daimler. I think you must be thinking of one of the GM V6 units which are in the main 60 degrees

Re: Brake / Power steering fluid specification V8 250

For the brakes, any Dot3 or Dot 4 fluid will be satisfactory ( assuming of course that the system has not been flushed and silicon based fluid used as a replacement) . For the PAS , don't take this as gospel , but from recollection castrol TQF or equivalent will be fine . A more modern replacement f...
