This new forum does overcome what was seen as a limitation of the old one in that images can now be uploaded directly from your PC. The disadvantage of this is that the images are now stored on the forum server and over time will eventually consume a large amount of storage. When images are inserted...

The V8 250 uses a two part asbestos fibre seal. The SP250 uses a pair of split metal scarf rings. I don't know which is more effective.

The only MG forum I subscribe to is TA,B and C only, but an internet search shows a several that include the TD. One site worth watching is MG T-Types . John James edits a bimonthly web mag, 'Totally T-Type 2', which you can download and is an excellent source of restoration help - click on TTT2 at ...

Try Spalding Fasteners. They carry a reasonable range of Whitworth stuff and delivery is usually next day.

Immediately post-war and probably into the fifties I'd suggest the threads were almost certainly BSW (coarse) or BSF (fine). I'm sure someone will be able to confirm (or otherwise).
