Re: Dart Valve stem seal
the later B.L. 'A' plus engines used a valve stem seal which will fit the 2 1/2 litre turner V8 ( I beIieve you quoted to correct part number) when fitted with the modified valve guides that are machined for a seal and are currently supplied by most jaguar/daimler parts specialists ..they can also b...

Re: SP250 oil pressure gauge line fittings.
You should be able to find a 90o pipe fitting at your local hardware store.. threads are std 1/8" pipe thread and usually made of brass .. common part for the water line hook up on US made 'swamp coolers'

Re: V8-250: Crankshaft difference
All the Turner V8s have the crankshafts threaded at the front (nose) end as far as my knowledge goes.... the front pulley has to be secured.. period .. I have never seen one with internal threads.. every one I have personally observed has an external thread up front that the pulley nut threads on to...

Re: V8 saloon bonnet catch
to open the bonnet with cable detatched/broken requires some patience..there is an access panel directly under the grill held in with 2 phillips head screws.. once this panel is off you can reach up to get to the 5/16" head bolts that hold grill in place.. remove all bolts then remove grill.. y...

Re: Paintwork / Respray
Arghhh... I dont enjoy painting ( although I do all the prep work 'in house' and we have a proper paint booth) and am now on the THIRD repaint of a Mk2 jaguar..( opalescent or 'silver blue') initially we decided to go with modern 'base clear' but after testing finish on one panel, I did not like the...

Re: V8-250 Saloon: Pulley Tensioner
A Common problem and not surprising given the age of our cars.. another issue, is that these tensions often seize up over time and will no longer tension the belt.. they are however, relatively easy to remove and dismantle.. always wise to add some anti seize to the shaft of tensioner when its apart...

Re: V8-250: Oil - 20W/60
As regard labelling the Turner V8 a 'dirty' engine :- this is reasonably accurate.. there are only 2 compression rings and early engines had a one piece slotted cast iron oil control ring which is not very effective at its job.... added to fairly high compression ratio, 'blowby' is far more common t...

Re: SP250 residual brake pressure valve and remote servo - brakes binding?
Some good answers posted.. I'll chime in :- the flex hoses are inexpensive and all 3 should be replaced if showing obvious signs of age ... another common issue is problems with the master cylinder .. people tend to over adjust the push rod when these have provision for adjustment, which if there is...

Re: V8-250: Oil - 20W/60
consider this. The labelling on multigrade oils works thus :- the first number refers to stated viscosity of oil when cold ..the second number is oil viscosity of stated oil when hot ..a 20 weight oil will thin somewhat when hot..but a 60 weight will thin a LOT when hot.. a 60w oil can be significan...

Re: V8-250 Saloon: What's this part ??
Be advised that when installing these rings (or 'gaskets'..same part as used on Mk2 Jag/S type/420/ XJ6) ) on the exhaust downpipes its wise to smear them liberally with 'anti seize' compound ( I believe the common one available in Uk is 'copper coat') to help enable future dismantling..(These propr...
