Re: 1957 Daimler 104 Sportsman
Hello Peter. The short answer is no. Upon succeeding the Regency the 104 had a direct drive top gear. Its predecessor had the overdrive gearbox with 3.5 or 4.5 engine options. It seems to me that the torque of the larger engine was too much for the gearbox. I had heard from my chauffeur father that ...

Daimler Sportsman pre-selector gearbox
Does anyone know of the whereabouts of an overdrive gearbox for a Sportsman/Four-Light. As part of the recommissioning of my 104 Sportsman I am considering changing the 104's direct drive for a Regency overdrive. Also I would be interested in hearing about any second-hand 104 pre-selector gearboxes ...

104 Brakes
Does anyone have a set of front brake shoes for a 104?
Are the shoes similar to Regency or was a change made?
I can get them re-lined but it's the shoes I need.
Thanks
B

Re: 1957 Daimler 104 Sportsman
She lives! At last she's running. The oil was clear in colour and once the carbs were cleaned she started and ran very smoothly. Fuel lines cleared and tank flushed. Front brakes need new shoes as fixings are worn and slaves need cleaning. I'm looking into the possibility of installing an overdrive ...

Re: Photos of Unusual Daimlers and Hoopers
Most of us will recognise this as a Daimler Conquest Roadster FHC. I'd thought that only one was made but Brian Smith's book says ‘probably no more than two or three produced’. Daimler_Conquest_2943.jpg This oddity turned up on the internet claiming to be a fixed head coupe. 9.jpg 7.jpg 5.jpg From t...

Great workshop space you have there and good to see some retrospective shots. How long do think it’s going to be before you can tour the magnificent scenic roads you have in your area?

Re: Arm rests
Hello again Eric, how nice to hear from you again. How’s the DE36 going? And thank you for such a kind offer – of course I’ll cover your costs. It’s amazing what’s out there on the internet. Thank you again and I look forward to hearing from you with pics. The arm rests are for my newly acquired Spo...

Re: 1957 Daimler 104 Sportsman
That’s perfect John, thank you. I’ll try David Beales. I shall add this to my parts alternatives list (first entry!) Has anyone in the Club prepared one before? If so where can we find it? ATB Barrie For a wide range of hard-to-find and difficult to describe fixings, bushes, spacers, etc. can I reco...

Re: Daimler Majestic Special YYL 30
Good to have an update. Pressure test not very scientific was it? I've never found chemical rinses to be of any use. They only provide (over) confidence producing coloured water and a few particles. The reality is that all the stuff that causes the problems remains firmly in-situ. I had a similar si...
