Re: Spongey brakes

Wilf

Thank you for your offer of the silicone brake fluid document by email.

I'd appreciate sight of it, thank you.

All the best

Re: Spongey brakes

I fitted braided s/steel hoses in 2000 during a complete overhaul of the SP brakes including s/steel pistons with all new seals and silicone brake fluid. At the first outing thereafter all four calipers were binding so badly it was undriveable, the hubs were too hot to touch within 10 miles or so. T...

Re: SP450

The car that Daimler should have made for the 4.5 engine would ideally have been a Barker or Hooper style drop head coupe on the Majestic Major chassis. Total luxury and quality. There is a very rare Barker bodied drop head 3 litre car, a larger version of the Special Sports, which did see the light...

Re: All dressed up....

For once the weather has been superb up here this week. The second time in a month! It's the time of year I like best, which often occurs in the spring, when the normal north bad/south good weather pattern reverses for a brief moment and Scotland is glorious! We try to time Scottish DLOC events to c...

Re: SP450

Nick Yes of course I've driven it! Otherwise I'd probably have given up the task of restoring it and sold it long ago. But it didn't take very long to realise that the steering was in need of urgent attention. Coincidentally it behaved rather like the MM I used to have just after I bought it, but no...

Re: Does being in the EU affect Classic motoring?

Does anyone who has been following this thread now have the slightest doubt that the EU is "fixed" to suit certain nations, that we are not one of the latter, and that we need to leave immediately? Or alternatively leave Europe individually.

Cheers

Re: V8 250 Auto box - rebuild or not

Keith

If you can afford it, now is probably the perfect time to fit a later Jaguar automatic box. Look up the website of G Whitehouse who produce a kit to do this.

Re: SP450

Nick It's some time since I visited the Wiki DV8 page. I believe that several attempts have been made to fit the larger engine where the smaller one goes, mostly without success. I think that the New Zealand car took that direction, but I don't know what problems had to be resolved to do it. The mos...

Re: SP450

Patrick I had intended to add some further information about the details of the conversion now in my charge, largely as the 'heavy' end of the mod spectrum. It is quite fascinating but also mysterious because there is little history available and no one remembers it. Ref Ian's comment that it may ha...
