Re: Cam,s and Head Gaskets
108 sep. is good . Inlet installed at 106.5 deg. You can lose some more exh. duration. 8deg less than Inlet is good ( exh. is too big as org. and is lazy ) 35MM header pipes off the head then stepping up . What's your cfm and velocity on the 31mm at the flange port. It tapers down to the turn ? Jag ...

Re: the hidden core plug

The large center plug is at the rear of the camshaft ( oil only ) the other two water are slightly lower. Check the gaskets on the blanking plates on the heads at the rear...

Re: Cam,s and Head Gaskets
What lobe center seperation were you thinking of ? the org cam size and profile c/l allows little material to play with . Hardening thickness is variable and reducing the base circle is not a good look . Theres no easy way to put a modern profile . Tighter lobe centers, Assymetrical profile ,shorter...

Re: V8 Cylinder Head Autopsy
The exhaust port is way too big to start with . Its lazy With a bit of lateral thinking the port can be made to flow (with a 11/4" valve ) as much as gas flowed std. port but with a 35% reduction in port volume. Gets a bit techo but its down to ft./sec . plenty of books out there to study . Big...

Re: SP and 250 cylinder heads
There were however various rocker designs throughout the production. The casting hole plugs at each end are identified as being SP by the two holes in the plug. Later versions were peened over frost plugs .

Re: SP250 gearbox advice
