mystery hub cap
A mystery hub cap I was given some years ago which is cluttering up the place. 275mm diameter not perfect but useable.
Any ideas which model it might belong to? Anyone need it?

Had a similar issue - and got some good advice on checking every bit of ignition etc, carb and air intake... It looks as if in my case it was a fuel feed problem caused by (and thanks to Derek Sleigh who suggested checking this) ... the fuel reserve 'tap' which rarely gets used - so the corks can dr...

thanks - the key bit of info is to remove the whole thing and not try and do it in situ! I had a vague recollection of doing the latter 40 years ago.

me too please - assuming its the same as on my 49/50 DB18? I remember replacing the cork about 40 years ago but can I remember what I did ..?! Derek Sleigh thought a sticky seal might be causing a fuel feed issue - leading to my backfire issue - and I think he may be right - pulled out the reserve k...

some improvement. fitted new plugs, I have changed one of the plug leads which was dodgy and checked the contact gap. I think it improves if I turn the advance retard to the left (just to underline my ignorance since the markings are no longer legible I dont know which that is!) . My next step will ...

thought I had sent you an email to let you know the car simply wasn't running well enough to risk driving down. Still backfiring - another suggestion may be to fit a new set of plug leads... anyone do them made up with caps etc?

I like the idea of the electronic conversion. Mine is a practical used vehicle - it should look and feel 'right' - but it doesn't always have to be original in every way!
I will investigate. New plugs are on order - I forget they simply don't last as long.
