I had the same problem on an old land rover - solution was to tighten the connections to the solenoid - wires compress & over time create a poor connection. Good Luck!

Hi I had a problem some years ago with something similar and it apparently was the hose - the hose wall was expanding when it was under pressure and contracting otherwise creating drag & slip when changing gear. Hose replaced with aircraft qualith braided & problem fixed. Hope this helps. Ca...

The tappet chest on a SP250 can be removed with the heads on - the inlet manifold has to be removed ( obviously ) I did this a few years ago as a follower had dropped off & I needed to retrieve it to finish the job I was doing.

Keen to hear from others on this subject.
