Good quality screw cap ignition coil wanted

Post by HenryC »

Hello,

Can anyone recommend a supplier of a good quality 12 volt ignition coil? I need one that has the screw fitting not the push on HT lead.

Ideally it should be a copy of the original 1930/40 type with the low tension connections having a british (not metric) thread so I can use the original bakerlite thumbnuts.

I bought one a couple of years ago and it got very hot and never really seemed to perform. It's also gone rusty very quickly

It's for my '38 EL24. Any suggestions?

You can get them from most of the usual places - Auto Electrical Supplies, Tim Hodgekiss, Green Spark PLug Co etc. Holden have this one:

which is expensive, but probably the correct one.

Thanks Mark,

I did get the last one from Holden, and yes it had all the right fittings.

I do need to check the other components in the ignition circuit to confirm my suspicions.
